It’s going to be stone. Eventually.

We made a decision on the wall – well, Ali did. It’s going to be stone, not breeze block. He’s got enough stone, and he likes working with it, so that’s the plan.
He dug down to make space for its foundations, and to everyone’s surprise (though perhaps we should have expected it, there being [...]

When you’re in a hole…

…don’t stop digging!

I’m just wondering how many more cheesy ‘digging’ titles we can come up with. Oh, I can think of a few!
Here are a few more digging shots anyway, just to prove we’re Ali is doing something:

I’ve just been out there with pen, pad, pacing feet and [...]

One problem solved, anyway

I look at the field – the ‘works’ end of it anyway, and I just see a long list of jobs to be done, and problems to be solved:

There is a lot of wood that needs shifting and cutting into firewood for the stove, obviously, and the remaining shed needs to be demolished and [...]

Feeling down?

Then find a sunny autumn day with blue skies and go outside and clear some land.

Even if it didn’t need clearing Well, I don’t have that problem – mine certainly does, and clearing it is the best tonic in the world.
The weekend was a washout:

in which I only managed to shift one [...]

Deep bed 2

– plus me! Posing on my fork.
( I did do some work too I promise you, while Lyddie was busy with the camera..)

Actually, quite a LOT of work, when you consider that plot was completely overgrown just 2 days ago. Now it’s clear of couch grass roots and everything, [...]

It’s a beautiful tree

– and actually, the more things take shape, the more I realise its importance. I think that little willow tree is going to form the centre point for the expanse of green grass that will eventually (by next springtime I hope!) cover the first third of our field and surround the first two buildings. [...]
